About Me:
Street festivals are an iconic element of summers in New York City. They regularly capture the attention of thousands, but their potential as a source for new cultural discoveries, a platform for emerging artists, and a catalyst for local business development often goes untapped.
This summer, the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project(MARP) and Afro-Punk, in partnership with iconic urban art institution The Brooklyn Academy of Music(BAM), are leading an evolution that transforms the standard street festival into a true cultural destination.
The Brooklyn Urban Arts Marketwill blend the power and pull of Afro-Punk’s bleeding edge creative culture with MARP’s community economic empowerment initiatives. The open-air market will house artisans, vendors, and entrepreneurs hand-selected for their innovative creations and fresh, urban perspective. The focus on small local and home-based businesses includes an added dimension for the vendor participants: 20 will be selected to receive free professional training covering business plan writing, marketing and growing your customer base and financial planning, provided by Project Enterprise.

The Market events will also feature live music by some of the most exciting young artists and bands in the US, and on-site performance art, all curated by Afro-Punk.

Located in the very heart of Brooklyn’s renowned artistic community, the market will launch during the highly anticipated, high visibility, always-electric 2008 Afro-Punk Festival. The festival has a history of success, drawing 4,000+ attendees in 2007. This unique setting, energized by live music, film, skate culture, and alternative art, will mark the start of the market’s full 5-Sunday run…and the emergence of a new leader in the City’s artisan community.

WHERE IS THIS COMING FROM??!!!

Where does the latest fashion trends come from????
does the media feed it to the children, who become brain washed in the propaganda of "the man"?
or do the kids steal it from past generations because their running out of idea?
OR, do the kids just do whatever they want.

choose your expression

If your an artists, what is your art form? What do you use to express you deepest and darkest feelings of love, hate, happiness, or anger? do you splatter the canvas with colors, or do you strum the strings of a guitar to convey your inner feelings. TELL THE WORLD!!!!
